Those Pesky Recertification E-mails

Problem:  You still have your user certificates expiring every 2 years, and even if you try to re-certify them using your handy expiration date view in your Directory (it's there - under the Certificates View)  users get a pop-up telling them that they need to press a button to send an email.  So they press the button and VOILA!, there's a blank 'To:' field.  What to do?

Solution:
I've seen several different ideas of how to handle this, but there's one sure-fire way to pre-fill that field - it was designed for this purpose.  Find the Certificates view in your Domino Directory, and open any of the Notes certificates listed there.  Over on the Contact Information tab, there's an innocent looking field called Other mail address.

That field allows you to mail those requests to someone other than the administrator or group that owns the Directory.  In fact since there's one per certifier, you can distribute the workload.  This field is also used to pre-fill the requests that can be generated in the User Security interface in Notes 6.

Funny thing is, this isn't a secret.  It's been there since Domino 5.0.9 and was in the Release Notes for that version.  The Technote was only published last December.  It's Technote 1085181 and can be found here.

So - did you know this?  If so - how did you find out?  I really want to know.
