Message Recall

Notes and Domino V8 are right around the corner.  One of the new things you’ll be dealing with is Message Recall.   I got my first developerWorks article published last week on that very topic.   See here - http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/library/notes8-recall/ .  You can ask me questions here if you have any.    Or, if you want, drop by the Lotus User Group website where I’m hosting the forum on What’s Key on Notes and Domino Administration for V8.  http://lotususergroup.org/glug.nsf/MainForm

Chris Miller cornered me for a podcast on the issue also – it should be available any day now, but he’s sneaky.  He stumped me on a couple of question.  (He always thinks of ways to break things).   Here are the questions and answers that are missing in the podcast.

  • Can you recall message from a group in our personal address book?  Answer:  yes.  Groups in the public address book can be confused by the recent contact list, but there’s a release note on that issue.
  • Second - If I disable Recall with a policy, does the button in the mail file get greyed out?  What does the user see if the feature is disabled by policy and they hit the button?  Answer: When the mail policy setting "User is allowed to recall sent messages" is set to "no", the Recall Message... action is hidden from the user.  The action does not appear in the action button bar, Actions menu, or right-click/context menu.

Read the paper, visit me – talk to me – Let’s get ready for Notes and Domino V8!

And if you're headed to Germany any time soon, come see me at AdminCamp in September!
