So many moving parts, so little time before the time changes. Many of you have been checking in here and there with your plans and solutions. Many are finished with the automated fixes, many are opting for manual changes at the hands of end users. Either works. Many success stories abound, so I'm feeling pretty good at this point.
Some things I've noticed:
- Local news is starting to tell that the change is coming, but don't note that it's early
- My magic Emerson, self updating, projecting nightstand clock can be updated to the new rules. They even posted the instructions online, so I'm all set there. I was thrilled, since I usually toss instructions.
- I let IBM do all the updating to all my systems and calendar entries. Everything updated beautifully.
- My 80-ish year old aunt was nonplussed when I explained the problem to her. She said she'd uncheck the DST setting in Windows98 and change the clock herself, since she had to change all the other clocks in the house anyway. (And if you worry about your 20 - 30 year old users figuring this out, show them this. My aunt is a retired nurse, not a computer whiz - and I didn't have to explain how to do any of the above.)
Oh yeah - the DST team here at IBM is off to Puerto Rico next week. They aren't changing.
By the way, if you have questions this week, go over to the Lotus User Group website and ask away in the forum.
