Notes on a Stick
I can't get enough of this toy, currently
called NOMAD. I had to deliver Kathleen's session on the Top 10 Reasons
to Upgrade to Notes 7 after she was felled by a nasty head cold. Since
it was last minute, I decided to sort of wing the slides and try to demo
NOMAD, our Notes on USB that was announced at Lotusphere. I downloaded
not-even-beta code from an internal site, and performed the install - and
it is SO awesome. For the first time in my career as a geek, I have
to toy the other geeks want. It works great. I plan to send
the developer a note about the few things I've noticed about it, but its
easy to use, has a small footprint (I have mine on a 512 M stick and still
have room - I see some stuff I don't need for my purposes, so I'm delete
them - like the modem files and all of the mail templates. That's
going to save space.
I've been demo-ing it in my sessions and lots of people are anxious for
7.0.2 to be released so they can get it too. The BlogMonkey has been
carrying the USB stick around with him - it looks good on it. Will post
pictures later today. It's Friday now, and I've finished 7 sessions so
far - with one more yet to go. I'm tired, as is buddy Chris Miller,
but I won't notice until tonight.
I love these conferences! I feel like I help people, and from the
feedback you give me, it seems that you enjoy the sessions. Thanks
to all of you who attended. If you have things you want me to cover
in future conferences, let me know.
