Lotusphere Thoughts
I've got 3 partially written blog entries
from this week - I would get started, then I'd get a call or text from
someone to go eat or try and get last-minute, panick-driven printing done,
or just have to run to my next session, or the one I wanted to attend.
This was my personal busiest Lotusphere yet. Not only did
Kathleen
and I do our 5 sessions and one BOF together, I attended so many sessions
that my head is nearly full. Then there were the dinners with pals
you only see once a year, and working in the Developer's lab, and a bit
of partying.
It would take way too long to do a total brain dump here - I have to catch
up on the blogs, comment there, start catching up on email and working
on the LONG list of items on my list of follow-up items from talking to
you. But here are a few random thoughts:
- It's way cool to fill a room to capacity (300+ seats) and have people sent to the overflow room. That was a first for me and Kathleen. Then have someone from the overflow room stop you later and say that it was terrific, even from there. Thanks.
- It's satisfying when someone stops you and says - I attended your Jumpstart session on Sunday, and I've been doing Domino administration for 6 years and I didn't know you could send a command to multiple servers at once or this or that...... THANKS! That's why we do that session - we promise to teach newbies and veterans both something new. And to have 200 + people show up on a Sunday morning for that class, well that's just amazing to us.
- Matt and Jess are both amazing singers. Watching Matt at Kimono's sing "Rapper's Delight" start to finish without once looking at the screen and almost without catching a breath, and watching Jess belt out - well anything was awesome. Thanks Jess for singing the duet with pal and customer Ian. The audience couldn't believe that you met as you walked onstage. The harmony floored everybody. Jess, I hear you did great at your Jumpstart session - see the photoblog for a picture of the blogmonkey helping Jess relax before the session, and see him onstage with Jess and Ian.
- Speaking of blogmonkey, he was everywhere, Kimono's, jamfest, eating, drinking and much more. See the new photoblog over on the left of the screen. Thanks to Kathleen for adding that to my template during a session this week. Many pictures are there, but not the one where he had a bit too much beer and um....relieved himself in the fountain at the Dolphin. I'm betting Paul Mooney publishes the shot he got if him though. Right now, he's inside a sock taking a turn through the washer. He both needs and enjoys it. We never did get him pierced and tattooed, but we'll do that in Boston in May hopefully. Come see us there. Soon, he (or one of his twins) will be packaged up to go to Ireland, where Paul will take him under his wing. It's ok - I will pack lots of snacks in the box.
- Comments from our evals on the DDM hands-on labs: "This alone will make the upgrade to 7 worth it." and "Even if you didn't want to do something, these two would make you think it's the greatest thing and you'd want to." ???!!!!! Kathleen, we need to talk about a new career apparently! Also, check KM's blog for the handouts and other links for DDM.
- Bumblebee backpacks. The backpacks made everybody look like bumblebees - swarms of them. I need at least 2 of them for developer bribes. All we get are these staff shirts, no bumblebee packs - will trade shirts for backpacks - any takers?
Okay, that's all for now - I have a week's worth of work to catch up on, a jillion things to followup on. More soon.
